Denver Botanic Garden Fall Plant and Bulb Sale, Sept. 19-20

Denver Botanic Gardens’ annual Fall Plant Sale takes place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19 and 20, 2014. Thousands of bulb varieties and unusual plants perfect for cool weather are available for purchase. Many plants are part of the Grown at the Gardens collection. Admission to the sale is free and takes place in the Gardens’ north parking lot. Regular admission applies if shoppers wish to explore the Gardens. Hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m (Fri), 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Sat). All sales support the Gardens.

October is a great time to plant for fall and winter interest. Fall-planted bulbs acclimate in the ground during the winter and often bloom months earlier than spring-planted specimens. Annuals, perennials, houseplants, evergreen shrubs, grasses, vines and deciduous trees and shrubs are among the sale offerings. Plants fit for many garden conditions are available, from shade to full sun and drought tolerant.

The Gardens’ horticulture staff is on hand to provide valuable plant information, tips and to recommend the best plants for your garden. Early arrival is recommended as the more rare plants sell out fast. Visitors are welcome to bring a wagon to transport purchases.
