WINTER PARK, Colo. – For the fifth straight season, Winter Park Resort Professional Ski Patrol is teaming up with the American Cancer Society and Cavett Kids to fight cancer in the TJV Ski Down Against Cancer this Saturday, March 21. Having grown exponentially each season, this year the event promises to be bigger and better than ever with more opportunities for the public to get involved

Dedicated in honor of Thomas James Veit, a 12-year Winter Park ski patroller who lost his valiant battle with colon cancer in 2011, the TJV Ski Down for Cancer will once again consist of Winter Park employees and resort volunteers skiing/riding down Lower Hughes at around 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the lives of those who have been touched by this dreaded disease. While the ceremonial ski down is exclusively for Winter Park Resort employees and its volunteers, everyone is invited to join the fight to help conquer this devastating disease. For a donation of $25 or more, guests have the option of picking up a special arm band at Winter Park Resort that can be worn (and personalized) throughout the ski day, signifying they’ve joined Winter Park’s Ski Patrol in their important charge.

Even if the day doesn’t include skiing/riding, everyone is invited to a party at Derailer Bar beginning at 3 p.m. with free music, drawings for prizes, food/drink for purchase, and a silent auction including items donated by the snow sports industry as well as local businesses.
