Chorus and orchestra rehearsals begin this month for the December 2nd and 3rd Winter Concert by the Oratorio Society of Estes Park.
If you enjoy singing choral masterworks, you can join the Oratorio chorus, which rehearses Sunday afternoons from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. beginning Sept. 18th at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, 2000 Ptarmigan Trail. All parts are open for new members, but we’re especially looking for new basses.
Orchestra rehearsals begin Sept. 19th and are on Monday evenings at 7:00pm at the Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies, 1700 Brodie Ave. The orchestra needs additional musicians on strings, oboe, and bassoon. If you are an intermediate level player comfortable with classical music, we’d love to have you play with us.
The Winter Concert will include Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite with dancers from Estes Park’s Ballet Renaissance. Also on the program are L’Enfance du Christ (The Childhood of Christ) by Hector Berlioz and the Gloria from the Midnight Mass for Christmas by Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
The Winter Concert will be held in the Estes Park High School Auditorium Friday, Dec. 2nd at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 3rd at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.
